All three gold medals are homeward bound to the coast! Wow, what an exhilarating weekend of excellent pool!

Job well done Mpumalanga Cue Sport! Hendry Erasmus and his team did really well! A massive thank you to Johan Roslee from Lake Umuzi for sponsoring the event and for the five star facilities enjoyed by the players!

Overall Jason Theron left us stunned! Featuring in all three finals and winning two of them. This guy is a 9-foot table machine!! Definitely top of the class in South Africa! He returned to KZN with 2 x gold medals (8-Ball & 9-Ball), 1 x silver medal (10-Ball) and R 11 000 cash!

Jason played the wonder-kid in the 9-Ball final and won 7-3. This was a great experience for Jeremiah Naidoo and it is evident that he will be (if not already is) one of the giants in the sport. For now, Jason made it clear who the king is and Jeremiah will certainly be practising to take the throne from him at the next event! Nevertheless, Jeremiah did not go home empty handed, he proudly returned home with 1 x silver medal (9-Ball), 1 x bronze medal (8-Ball) and R 2 000 in his pocket!

The final of the 8-Ball event seemed to be a piece of cake for Jason as Sandile Madlala did not put up much of a fight with a 5-1 defeat. Or did Sandile just realise this man was unstoppable? Overall Sandile had a satisfying weekend, taking home a silver medal and R 2 000 from the 8-Ball event. Maybe he will set the standard at the upcoming Arnold Classic…one never knows with Sandile, but when he is physically and mentally fit, he is ruthless…the next title is bound to be on its way.

Charl Jonck redeemed his pride by winning the 10-Ball event. Leaving a friendly reminder to his fellow cueists that he is a force to be reckoned with and always finds his way to the top! Charl won 6-5 against Jason in what was a nail biting final to say the least. There was no way he was going to go home without a title this weekend, and for Charl, it really doesn’t matter what discipline it is, or what size the table is, he has proved that he is a master of all trades in cue sport. Charl took the 10-Ball gold medal home and R 2 000 cash to spoil his most loyal supporter, Teniele.

Team KZN dominated this event taking home a total of 6 out of the 9 medals and R 15 000 from the R 17 000 prize fund allocated to the mens events! Now that is impressive!

Here is a breakdown of the awards:

Gold – Jason Theron (KZN) – R 5 000
Silver – Sandile Madlala (KZN) – R 2 000
Bronze – Jeremiah Naidoo (KZN)

Gold – Jason Theron (KZN) – R 5 000
Silver – Jeremiah Naidoo (KZN) – R 2 000
Bronze – Thabo Taljaard (MPU)

Gold – Charl Jonck (EC) – R 2 000
